Fighting malnutrition 

 

We want to start a mobile outreach program, where we travel to the rural villages outside Arusha. We want to educate mothers, and becoming mothers the importance of proper nutrition, and how to prepare a balanced and nutritious diet. We want to explain the effects malnutrition will have on their children. 

 

We want to prevent premature births, due to undernutrition in mothers. Prevent children from becoming physically and mentally retarded, just from the lack of nutrition. We need to provide them with vitamins and minerals. The critical period is before age two, after this stunting is irreversible. 

With your help, we want to support the families at greatest risks. We hope to provide medications and treatment for the severely malnourished children. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How many are malnourished today? 

 

The number of hungry in Africa has grown rapidly the last years! With now 239 million people undernourished, nearly 20 million added in the last few years! That is nearly 1/4 going hungry. 

 

Of these, the children are the most visible victims of undernutrition. Poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year - five million deaths. Undernutrition magnifies the effect of every disease, including measles, malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia.
